Games Every Designer Should Try to Sharpen Their Skills
Want to level up your design skills while taking a break from the usual work? Need a second to stall that creative block? Design doesn’t always have to be serious—these games turn learning into play. From color matching to mastering shapes and curves, these six games are an entertaining way to improve your design precision and vision. Click on the image or link to check them out!
1. Kolor (kolor.moro.es)
Think you can guess colors in seconds? Kolor is a fast-paced color-guessing game that challenges you to match colors as quickly as possible to score. It’s a quick way to train your eye to recognize shades, an essential skill in any design work. The more colors you get right, the harder the shades get. At one point, it near impossible, but then again you always have the clock counting down.

2. Boolean Game (boolean.method.ac)
Boolean operations like union, subtract, intersect, and divide are critical for creating new shapes in design. This game challenges you to merge and subtract shapes to match a target shape. It’s a great exercise for designers who want to strengthen their shape-building skills. I have had personally difficulty being able to predict what operation is best, and this game has taught me a lot to help my design shortcuts.

3. Designer’s Eye (avark.agency/designers-eye)
Is the dot centered or just a little off? Designer’s Eye tests your ability to catch subtle details. You’ll practice spotting tiny misalignments, which is a valuable skill for creating balanced, precise designs. To be honest, sometimes this game feels near impossible. I have tried time and time again to get a perfect score. Let me know if you do!

4. I Shot the Serif (tothepoint.co.uk/us/fun/i-shot-the-serif)
Get ready to test your typography knowledge with I Shot the Serif. In this game, you’ll shoot the serif letters hiding among sans serifs. It’s a lighthearted way to improve your typeface knowledge and have fun at the same time! Make sure your audio is not at full blast, because as you click it will make gunshot noises (trust me, I learned the hard way)

5. Bézier Game (bezier.method.ac)
Working with Bezier curves can be such a challenge, but this game makes it enjoyable, or at least educational. The Bézier Game helps you master the pen tool and practice making precise curves—a key skill for creating smooth, professional shapes in your designs.

6. Shape Type (shape.method.ac)
Another game for practicing with Bezier curves, Shape Type challenges you to adjust the handles to create perfect letter shapes. This game is a great way to improve your control over curves and get more comfortable with vector design. Once you submit the shape, it can tell you how close you were to the exact design and where you can improve.
